Katherine Victorene Gremmel (b. October 09, 1910, d. November 02, 1975)Katherine Victorene Gremmel (daughter of Fred Gremmel and Susan Gappa) was born October 09, 1910 in Dubuque, Iowa, and died November 02, 1975 in Reedsburg, Wisconsin. She married Emory Ewen Patterson on October 1925 in Chicago, Illinois, son of Henry Frank Beneau Patterson and Grace Anna Ewen. Notes for Katherine Victorene Gremmel: Grandma Kay was always known as a great lady. She was tough when she needed to be and very stubborn. I never really knew Grandma Kay. She passed away a month after I was born. She came to see me at my Mothers parents house and her and Grandpa Emory stayed for about two hours just holding me and cuddling me. She said to me(from what my mother and grandmother told me), that she couldn't wait to see how beautiful I really was with her new eyes. My Grandma Swanson told me how she ranted and raved over her new great-granddaughter (I was the first great-grandchild, can you tell). When I was on the way, she told everyone how excited she was to be a great-grandmother. Funny thing is that when many people told my mother that she shouldn't have me it hurt her, my Grandma Kay told her not to listen to them to follow her heart and that they were full of nonsense. She used to tell my dad that he had better take good care of my mother or else he'd have to answer to her. Grandma Kay loved my mother so much, she was always good to my mom. Other things I know about her was that she was a great dancer, that's how she met my Grandpa Emory. She knew a good catch when she saw him. They were always affectionate to each other and always truly in love with one another. Nothing came between them. I remember that after she had passed, Grandpa Emory would always talk about her and how much he loved her. I could only hope that my marriage someday will be as strong as theirs. Grandma Kay was like a second mother to many people. She would babsit her nieces and nephews and loved always having family around. Grandma Kay went in for cataract surgery and never came out. I don't know if she had an asthma or heart attack. But she never did come out of surgery to see how beautiful I was with her new eyes. I think if she were here today, she would have been very proud. I also know that she would have been very proud to see my sister who followed in her footsteps without even knowing it with her love and passion for dancing. This is my sister, Shaunna Patterson. There are so many times when I wish that I could have met her. I know that I would have loved being with her so much. I live through the eyes of other people and their great love for my great grandmother and the wonderful stories that they tell. My Grandma Kay touched many people hearts, so strongly, that I beleive they will never lose that touch. More About Katherine Victorene Gremmel: Burial: Unknown, Reedsburg, WI. More About Katherine Victorene Gremmel and Emory Ewen Patterson: Marriage: October 1925, Chicago, Illinois. She was a dance instructor and loved to dance. Katherine and Ethel would go to local dances in which boys would buy a ticket to dance with them. Emory Ewen Patterson took notice of Katherine and walked up to her with his ticket. Emory grew very fond of Katherine and would visit her often and attend these dances to see her. Katherine made herself out to be older around 18, but she was only 15. Emory and Katherine wanted to marry and they did with the approval of her mother, Victoria, and the help of her sister, Ethel. Children of Katherine Victorene Gremmel and Emory Ewen Patterson are:
